Division Awards Program Best practice, Innovation and student awards
Each year the Economic Development Division recognizes projects and people in three categories - Best practice, innovation and student project. One project from all the submissions in the best practice and innovation categories is selected for the Excellence in Economic Development Award named for Donald E. Hunter, who was a long-time active member of the American Planning Association. The application period generally opens in January with awardees selected and honored at the APA National Conference. In addition, the Division also provides a $2,000 Holzheimer memorial student scholarship to one student in memory of longtime APA member and economic development visionary, Dr. Terry Holzheimer of Arlington County, Virginia.
